"...The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." (James 5:16)
--S.D. Gordon
All of our hearts have been blessed by the outpouring of love, shown through the giving of money, food, water, medical care and time, to the people of Haiti in the aftermath of the devastating earthquake that struck the tiny country on January 12. My family and I have been a part of that and I am sure many of you have been as well.
But, friend of mine, there are still some things that only God can do in a situation like that which the people of Haiti are in right now. That is why prayer is the one thing that Haiti needs the most right now. Through prayer, we ask God to come in to a situation and do with it as only He can. The people of God all over the world need to fervently pray for Haiti and its people right now and for years to come. And the people of God in Haiti need to pray for themselves as well.
Have you ever heard a dear saint pray the following: "Lord, please do what only You can do"? Well, there are some things that only God can do. And there are some things that need to be done in Haiti that only God can do. The Haitian people have needs that only God can meet. There are things that need to be fixed that only God can fix. There are people who need to be healed that only God can heal.
Have you ever sung or heard the hymn, "Come, Ye Disconsolate Wherever Ye Languish"? The words of that hymn aptly describe where the people of Haiti are right now. Below are the words of this blessed song, and nobody can sing it like the Sensational Nightingales, so I included an audio of them singing it below. May it bless your heart.
